Participant will learn about the general features of 4-GLs, Relational Databases, and Developer/2000 tools. They will learn the
art of designing an effective GUI based application using D2K modules. After completing this course you will be able to appear
in OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) test. They will also learn Managing and Controlling Databases, Backup and Recover
Databases and Network Essentials for Databases.

users, privileges and resources, start up and shut down an Oracle instance and database, Use National Language Support
Features.
Backup and Recovery
List the key issues involved when defining an effective backup and recovery strategy. List the Oracle architecture components
related to backup and recovery operations. List the components of the recovery manager Architecture. Implement different
types of backup methods using the various Oracle database tools (eg. physical backups with and without RMAN, and logical
backups). Diagnose and troubleshoot database problems and failures. List the different Oracle backup methods and use
appropriate restore and recovery operations to resolve database failure (complete and incomplete recovery). Configure a
standby database to minimize primary database downtime, Develop confidence of recovery techniques through various
workshop scenarios.
Performance and Tuning
List the important steps for outlining a tuning methodology. Use Oracle tools to diagnose performance problems. Reconfigure
file structures for performance and other considerations. Identify and resolve I/0, data storage and database configuration
problems. Detect and resolve-latch and lock contention problems within the Oracle
database environment. Configure memory and disk resources to optimize sort
operations. Diagnose & resolve performance issues associated with the
multithreaded server. List the options to enhance performance-tuning requirements for different types of applications.
Network Administration
Define the Net8 architectural layers, configure a simple client and server, and establish a connection between them. Configure
and start a names server and use it to resolve a service name. Configure and setup a multithreaded server. Identify network
trends and problems, and provide solutions for them. Configure the Connection Manager, and use it for pooling connections
& restricting clients from connecting, Analyze and troubleshoot Net8 problems using log files, trace files, and Trace Assistant,
identify network security risks and their solutions, and configure data encryption using the Advanced Networking Option.
Project
Besides developing a medium size project along-with development of user manual; in the last two months participants will be
working. Complete supervision will be provided to each individual/ group for successful completion of the projects. |
